Julius Erving was born on February 22, 1950 in Roosevelt, New York. He was an awesome basketball player in his time. Julius Erving did everything from a great basketball player to an amazing role model for basketball fans.

Julius Erving full name is Julius Winfield Erving II. Julius Erving attended Roosevelt high school. That is the place where he got the nickname “Doctor J” because of the way he played the game of basketball. After high school he’d enrolled into the University of Massachusetts in 1968. He had played two years of varsity basketball season there and already he made a record to become one of the seven basketball players to average 20 points and 20 rebounds per game.

At the time that Erving was in there were two leagues the ABA and the NBA. The ABA stood for American Basketball Association. The NBA stood for the National Basketball Association. When he left college he joined the ABA but he was an undrafted free agent and he played for the Virginia Squires. When he played with the Squires he’d established himself quick in the ABA. He was known for his hard and ruthless dunks. As a rookie he scored 27.3 per game and made the ABA all rookie team. He didn’t win rookie of the year but he came in second to Artis Gilmore, the ABA rookie of the year. He led the Squires to the division finals but they were defeated by the New York Nets.

In 1972 he went to the NBA and was drafted in the first round as number 12 to the Milwaukee Bucks. Instead of playing with Oscar Robertson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar he’d signed with the Atlanta Hawks. He played three exhibition games in the NBA before he had to return to the ABA because the Squires still owned him because his contract did not expire yet and he left the team so he had to go back. Even though he had to go back he had a great season there and achieves a career high 31.9 per game. With his amazing style of playing he’d dazzled people who had seen him play.

He played for the Squires until 1973 when they traded him to the New York Nets. He led the Nets to an ABA championship and beat Utah 4-0. After that season Julius was injured but it didn’t affect his game he still had high point games. Then he was named the MVP of the ABA for 1974 to 1976. So after that great 2 years he left the ABA and went to the NBA where he played for the 76ers. Four years before he retired he won a championship with the Sixers. So the year 1987 he finally retired and he scored 30,000 points his whole career. He was one of three players to get an achievement like that.

Julius Erving retired and of course he was put in the basketball hall of fame. Julius is a great player that did a lot both for the Sixer and the Nets that why they both hung up his jersey. He is respected the game and had he’s style but if he didn’t he wouldn’t be in the hall of fame.

Good job Emmanuel. You have a good essay but it does have some grammar errors. The page is also well done. There was one post which you could've deleted.
